SeekOut organizes filters into categories, making it easier to combine related filters and uncover candidates with specific or uncommon skills and experience.

You can use filters related to experience and education independently or together to target candidates based on:

  • Years of professional experience

  • Educational background

  • Degree type or field of study

  • Graduation year or school attended

This flexible approach enables you to create highly tailored searches that pinpoint the ideal talent for your role.

How to use the Experience and Education Filters

Experience Filter

The Experience section includes two tabs: Standard and Combined. Each tab offers three filters—Company, Title, and Years of Experience—to help you refine your candidate search.

Standard Tab

Use the Standard tab to search based on a candidate’s previous work experience. The Company and Title filters offer four options:

  • Current or Past (default)

  • Current

  • Past

  • Past Not Current

You can change the filter type by clicking the dropdown arrow and selecting your preferred option.

  • Company

    • Type the name of a company in the Add field and select it from the results.

  • Title

    • Type a job title in the Add field and choose from the suggested matches.

  • Years of Experience

    • This filter calculates the total number of years since a candidate graduated from college. If no college data is available, it uses the high school graduation year.

    • Use the sliding scale to set a custom range, or select one of the preset options below the slider to apply it quickly.

You can also layer filters from different categories to build more targeted searches. See the Layering Filters section for details.

Experience - Combined tab

Use the Combined tab to perform a more targeted search.

Enter your criteria in each of the entry boxes, then click the Enter Search button to perform the search with your chosen criteria. You can enter multiple filters for each entry.

The example above will return candidates who worked as a Software Engineer at Uber, Lyft, or Twitter between 2014 and 2022.


Education Filter

The Education section includes two tabs—Standard and Combined—each offering three filters: School, Degree, and Major.

Education - Standard

Use the Education filters to search for candidates based on their academic background.

  • Check the box next to a filter to apply it to your search.

  • Or, type your criteria into the Add entry boxes and select from the list of matching options.

Education - Combined

Use the Combined tab to build highly targeted searches by layering multiple criteria.

  • Enter your desired values into each field.

  • You can include multiple filters per entry to refine your results.

  • Once your criteria are set, click Enter Search to run the query and view matching candidates.

This tab is ideal for complex searches that require precision across experience, education, or other profile attributes.


Customizing Your Filters

To personalize which filters appear on your SeekOut Search page:

  1. Click Manage Filters at the top of the filter list.

  2. In the pop-up window, you'll see two sections:

    • My Filters (left side): These are the filters currently visible on your Search page.

    • All Filters (right side): This shows all available filters you can add.

  3. To show a filter, check the box next to it in the All Filters menu.

  4. To hide a filter, uncheck the box.

Your selections will update your Search page, allowing you to focus on the filters most relevant to your sourcing needs.
