Why can't I see more than 1000 results from my search?

Most search engines—including SeekOut, Google, and LinkedIn—limit visibility to the first 1,000 results, even when thousands more may exist.

Most search engines—including SeekOut, Google, and LinkedIn—limit the number of results you can view from a single search. Even if your search returns thousands of matches, only the first 1,000 results are accessible by paging through them.

How to View More Results

To uncover additional candidates beyond the 1,000-result limit, try narrowing your search into smaller, more targeted segments. You can do this by:

  • Adding filters (e.g., location, title, company)

  • Including specific keywords to refine your query

  • Breaking broad searches into multiple focused searches

This approach helps surface more unique results and ensures you're seeing a wider range of candidates.

How to Break a Large Search into Smaller Segments

If your search returns more than 1,000 results, you can refine it by adding additional terms to divide the results into smaller, more manageable subsets.

Example: A search for retinal surgeons returns over 1,000 results. To explore more of the candidate pool, you can split the search like this:

  • Subset 1: Retinal surgeons whose profiles include the word college
    Search: retinal surgeons college

  • Subset 2: Retinal surgeons whose profiles do not include the word college Search: retinal surgeons NOT college

By segmenting your search this way, you can uncover more unique candidates and work around the 1,000-result limit.
