The Industry Filter

The Industry filter helps you narrow down candidates based on the industry they’ve self-identified.

To apply the filter:

  1. Click the Add dropdown under the Industry section.

  2. Type the name of an industry to search for matching options.

  3. Check the box next to a term to include only candidates who work in that industry.

If you don’t see the Industry filter on your Search page:

  • Click the three-dot icon (⋮) above your filters.

  • Select Manage Filters from the menu.

  • In the pop-up window, find and add Industry to your filter list.

Where does SeekOut's industry data come from?

Industry information in SeekOut is self-reported by the candidate, typically based on how they view their role or organization.

While many candidates align their industry with their employer’s sector, others choose an industry that better reflects their job function.

Example: Candidates working at Twitter often list their industry as Computer & Internet, which aligns with the company’s core business. However, others may select Advertising & Marketing, Media & Broadcasting, or other industries that reflect their specific responsibilities.

This variation is normal and helps provide a more nuanced view of each candidate’s professional background.
